ST. IGNACE
A worker was killed in a 180-foot fall from a cell phone tower.
William Edward Knorr III, 32, of Newaygo, was among three people doing maintenance work Saturday for Grant Tower in St. Ignace Township, state police reported. He and another worker were climbing the tower when the mishap occurred.

Mr. William E. Knorr, Jr., age 32 of Sparta and formerly of Newaygo, died of accidental injuries falling from a tower Saturday, June 26, 2004 in St. Ignace Township, Machinaw County. He was born William Edward Knorr, Jr. in Providence, RI the son of Bette Jean (Johnson) and William Edward Knorr, Sr. on November 10, 1971. He married Amie Jo Irby McKinley on April 16, 2004 in White Cloud, and he was a project supervisor for Grant Tower, Inc. He attended Frontline Community Church, Grand Rapids.
He is survived by his wife Amie, his son William E. Knorr, II of FL, step-children Chelsea Jeanette & Michael Allen McKinley both at home, his mother & step-father Bette Jean & Robert Rafield of FL, and his sisters Linda & Ellen both of FL.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 P. M. from the McKinley Newaygo Chapel, on Tuesday, June 29, 2004 with Mr. Daren Penwell officiating. Visitation was held 7-9 P. M. Monday and again 12-1 P. M. Tuesday until service time.
